Qiniqtiq Kangiqsualujjuaq

Qiniqtiq means « a searcher » in Inuktitut and is the landholding corporation for the community of Kangiqsualujjuaq. Qiniqtiq Landholding Corporation of Kangiqsualujjuaq was established in 1979.

Kangiqsualujjuaq, meaning “very large bay” in Inuktitut, is the easternmost village of Nunavik. It is also known as George River, in reference to the river along which the community is located.

Outdoor Rink

Following the fire that destroyed the Kangiqsualujjuaq arena in 2023, Qiniqtiq Landholding Corporation purchased an outdoor rink for the community to ensure that youth could continue playing hockey while the arena was being rebuilt.

This initiative reflects Qiniqtiq’s commitment to supporting community activities and maintaining access to recreational opportunities for the youth of Kangiqsualujjuaq.

Survival Cabins

To promote safety and access to the land, Qiniqtiq Landholding Corporation has established six survival cabins within its territory. These facilities provide safe resting and shelter locations for community members and hunters during their travels and expeditions on the land.

Construction Camps

Qiniqtiq Landholding Corporation offers construction camp accommodations for workers and project teams requiring temporary lodging in Kangiqsualujjuaq. Two fully equipped camps are available for rental

Transit Apartment

A fully equipped transit apartment is available for visitors and individuals requiring temporary accommodation in Kangiqsualujjuaq. The apartment includes a living room with television, high-speed Internet access, a kitchen equipped with an induction cooktop, air fryer, microwave, and toaster oven, as well as a bathroom with shower and a bedroom with a double bed.

Rates starting at $175 per night.

Hunting
and Fishing

Specific rules and conditions for non-beneficiaries are established by the Qiniqtiq Landholding Corporations when sports fishing or sports hunting in Kangiqsualujjuaq.
