Saputik Kangirsuk

Saputik means "supporter" or "care taker" in Inuktitut and is the landholding corporation for the community of Kangirsuk. The Saputik Landholding Corporation of Kangirsuk was established in 1980.

Kangirsuk, meaning "the bay" in Inuktitut, is a Nunavik community located along the shores of the Payne River, approximately 13 kilometres from Ungava Bay.

Kangirsumiut Inc.

Incorporated in 2018, Kangirsumiut Inc. is a partnership between the Saputik Landholding Corporation, the local cooperative, and the local Anguviaq. The company was created to support local economic development through the harvesting and processing of seaweed, while building expertise and opportunities within the community.

Projects

Office Complex

In 2025, Saputik Landholding Corporation inaugurated a new office complex designed to support local organizations and services in Kangirsuk. The modern facility includes 23 office spaces, a large conference room that can be divided into smaller meeting spaces, as well as a restaurant area with a commercial kitchen and dining room.

The restaurant is not yet in operation.

All office spaces are currently leased. For conference room rentals or future leasing inquiries, please contact the General Manager.

Hunting
and Fishing

Specific rules and conditions for non-beneficiaries are established by the Saputik Landholding Corporations when sports fishing or sports hunting in Kangirsuk.
