Owned by the Nayumivik Landholding Corporation, the Kuujjuaq Inn has been welcoming visitors to Kuujjuaq since 1981. Established in 2009, Nunatech Inc. is a Nunavik-based partnership between the Nayumivik Landholding Corporation and Englobe. The partnership was created to combine local knowledge with specialized environmental expertise while supporting the development of local skills and capacity in Nunavik.

Nunatech provides a range of environmental and technical services adapted to northern conditions, including:

• Environmental assessments
• Site remediation and contaminated soil management
• Treatment of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils
• Hazardous materials management
• Mold assessments, building hygiene, and occupant health and safety evaluations
• Geotechnical and materials testing services

Kuujjuaq Soil Treatment Facility

Nunatech operates the Kuujjuaq Soil Treatment Facility, which provides local capacity for the treatment and management of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils. The facility uses bioremediation methods to treat petroleum hydrocarbon-related contaminants, allowing treated soils to be safely reused for appropriate applications.

The facility has the following capacities:

• Treatment pad capacity: 5,000 m³
• Temporary storage capacity: 15,000 m³
• Soil available for reuse: 10,000 m³

Following treatment, suitable soils may be reused for commercial and industrial applications, including as granular material for road construction.

Through its partnership model and northern-based operations, Nunatech contributes to sustainable environmental management while strengthening local expertise and capacity in Nunavik.

Sanavik Garage is a full-service automotive and recreational vehicle repair facility that has been serving the Kuujjuaq community for nearly 20 years. The garage provides maintenance and repair services for vehicles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and snowmobiles, helping ensure reliable transportation adapted to Nunavik’s northern conditions.
